Poker has become a big time TV enent in the last few years. That, along with the explosion of interest caused by online poker, has led to the best players gaining celebrity status. I have listed just a few of the most well known players below.

One of the most popular players in the game today is Daniel Negreanu. Daniel is all over the TV these days if you watch poker. If it isn't High Stakes Poker, it's commercials for Poker Stars, or a final table appearance at a televised event.

He has an impressive tournament record. Danile has won four WSOP bracelets, and over $10,000,000 in prize money. He has a pleasant demeanor at the tables, very talkative and cheerful.

Doyle Brunson is the the grandfather of poker. He has been there from the beginning. His two WSOP Main Events wins makes him one of only 4 players to win the Main Event more than once. He has 10 WSOP bracelets, tied for second all time with Johnny Chan. Only Phil Helmuth, with 11, has more.

Many consider Doyle the best poker player of all time. He has won big events in four different decades. Born in 1933 Doyale won a major event as late as 2004 at age 71, and his last bracelet in 2005, at 72. Last year Doyle had a good run in the $50,000 WSOP HORSE event going out 16th and cashing $124,000.

Annie Duke has proven that women can compete with the men at the tables. She gained notoriety in the WSOP Main Event in 2000 when she narrowly missed the final table, going out 10th. What made this so noticable was that she was 8 months pregnant during the event.

She has a WSOP bracelet, which she won in 2004. She had an impressive $2,000,000 cash for her first place in the 2004 World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions. Annie has won over $3,600,000 as of 2008, and shows no signs of slowing down. She is the sister of another poker great, Howard Lederer.

Phil Ivey is just a poker monster. Many consider him the best in the game. He is equally good in cash games and tournaments. He is a calm, focused. calculating, and an aggressive player at the tables. He also handles himself with a lot of class.

Phil exploded on the tournament scene when he won 3 events in the WSOP in 2002. He has two others win at the WSOP giving him 5 bracelets. His tournament earnings are over $9 million.

Phil Helmuth is the winningest player in WSOP history. He has won 11 WSOP bracelets, including the 1989 WSOP Main Event. At age 24 Phil still stands today (2008) as the youngest player to win the Main Event.

Phil is a volitile player, which actually adds to his celebrity. He has gone into an angered rage many times, berating other players when things don't go his way. Phil is commonly known as the "poker brat" due to his behavior.
