Micro Helicopter – the Perfect Gift

My son’s birthday was coming up in a few days and I honestly had no idea what to get him. He had no interest in the toy cars that he did and he was bored with the train set he got last Christmas. Then I saw an ad in the toyshop for a micro helicopter. I thought it over and realized that I have not bought him a toy of that nature yet so I immediately bought one and hoped that he would be able to enjoy it.

On the day of his birthday, I gave him his gift which he opened hesitantly. I heard him talking to his playmates that he was probably going to get a toy car this year. He was very surprised when he got rid of the wrapping and saw that it was a RC helicopter inside. “Wow!” was the only thing he said. I knew then from his reaction that I made the right decision.

He then asked if we could go to the park later in the afternoon to try it out. I conceded of course. My wife smiled at me, glad to know that we would be spending some father and son time together. I was a doctor, so I barely had the time to sit around and play with my son. My wife has often complained to me that I am not giving him enough attention but I was not able to do anything about it until now.

So when his birthday wrapped up, my son and I drove to the park where I thought him how to use the remote control in order to make the micro helicopter fly smoothly in the sky. I was glad to see that he was very eager to learn and that he was a fast learner. In a few minutes, he was able to fly his toy in the sky effortlessly. It made me proud to see him looking very happy.

On the way home, my son started telling me things that I never knew such as the fact that he wanted to be a pilot when he grows up. He shared that he wanted to drive a huge plane but now he changed my mind and wanted to drive a helicopter instead. He said this fondly as he looked into his new mini helicopter.

I was so overwhelmed with this new information and the fact that I saw this as a really good opportunity to know my son better. So I decided to get another remote controlled helicopter but this time it was for me. I was told that there are more advanced models of micro helicopter for grown ups but I preferred to stick with the simple model. I believe it would please my son to see that we had almost the same toys.

The next time we went to the park I was playing along beside him and we had so much fun I am thinking of turning this into a regular thing between me and my kid.
