LG VX9800 – The V – Phone (Verizon Wireless) – Review
My Wife bought this new LG the V phone through Verizon. We were looking something with a Smart Phone capability but didn't need the full Internet capabilities. What we settled for was Verizon's LG VX9800 or better known as LG the V.
First Impression of the LG VX9800
When we first saw this phone in the Verizon Store, it seemed very bulky. Once we opened it and looked at all the features, we understood why it was so bulky. This is a clam shell type phone, meaning it will flip open and you have a full keyboard to send text messages or email. Also, when the phone is flipped open, it goes on Speaker mode.
My Wife is not a Bluetooth user. She tried most of the bluetooth headsets and just does not like them. One of the selling points for her was how loud the speaker was on the LG VX9800 when it was opened.
What We Didn't Like About the LG VX9800
There were several cons to buying the LG VX9800.
- VCAST is great, but at $15 we feel it's too much
- It's bulky. It won't fit into a lot of smaller belt/purse pouches
- The flash for the camera is on the weak side
More Pro's for the LG VX9800
Having noted the Cons, the Pro's just had them beat. My Wife bought the phone and has been one happy camper ever since.
The camera function actually takes really good pictures. Certainly about the same quality as my old 2 mega-pixel Canon Camera.
The LG VX9800 also comes with a MP3 player which my Wife uses very little (but I do!). The sound quality is pretty impressive coming from a camera phone.
The LG VX9800 also comes with removable memory. My wife carries extra SD cards just in case she fills up one with all the photo's she takes. This camera phone is just short of remarkable!
The V also seems to be indestructible. My Wife has dropped this phone on numerous occasions and it keeps right on working.
All in all, this is a workhorse of a phone with some really hi-tech features. If you don't mind the bulk, the LG VX9800 will certainly do nearly everything you need it too short of a SMART Phone.
