Homak Gun Safe Reviews
Homak gun safe reviews online are a dime a dozen. The reason is, the company’s security products are so popular. First, this firm is much more known for making cabinets than safes.
In other words, they are not designed for hardcore security. They are made to keep out children and the less serious criminal. However, if someone really wants to, they can break-in. This consumer review will cover some of the more popular models.
The good thing about the firm is that they have been making security products for about 60 years. Therefore, they definitely know what they are doing. Their safes are designed to hold 6-14 guns. Despite the different sizes, most of them are relatively similar in terms of construction and materials used when building. The majority of them are around 5 feet tall, and weigh from 70-100 pounds.
In other words, these safes are designed for someone who wants something to keep their guns and rifles out of the reach of kids. However, if you are looking for a security product that will keep criminals out, then you definitely want to go with a safe. Here is a review of their largest cabinet to give you an idea of the quality you can expect.
HS20136614 Gun Cabinet
This model is very widely used, and it is known for being durable and cheap. It can handle as many as 14 52 inch guns, which is enough for most people. It allows you to distribute them across 3 shelves. There is enough room to keep other valuables (i.e. jewelry, precious metals) but if you probably want a safe for those things.
This is an electronic cabinet, and it works by pass code. The obvious advantage of this over a traditional lock and key system is that you can access the guns faster. Speed is essential if someone is breaking into the house, and this one will allow you to get to the guns as quickly as you need to.
This cabinet has a 12 month limited warranty, should anything go wrong. The welding is quite good on this one. It is made with 7/8 inch steel, which again is good enough to keep out your kids, but not enough that it will withstand a full-fledged assault. It sells for around $470 at many sites, which means it is relatively affordable.
So if you want a good model, and you own between 6 and 14 guns, then the Homak cabinets are for you. However, if you want a safe, then they do make one model you should consider. Here is a review of it to help you determine whether to buy:
WS00017001 Homak Steel Wall Safe
This model is small and cheap-it sells for around $30 at most sites. If you have been looking for safes for a while, then you know that this is very inexpensive. You will probably be surprised to find out that this safe is actually very high quality, considering the price.
First, it comes with a tubular locking system, like the cabinets. It is made to go between 16 inch wall studs, as the 4 mounting holes are 16 inches wide. It is able to be installed in the floor as well, should you prefer. As you can tell, this model is small, and it is a safe designed to be hidden behind or underneath furniture.
As opposed to the cabinets the company makes, this safe uses a lock and key mechanism for opening. Therefore, it takes a bit longer to access your belongings. It is made with high quality steel, although it is not made to withstand a heavy duty onslaught by someone looking to break-in. Instead, it is built to be hidden from view. If you want something a bit more secure than the cabinets the company makes, then consider the WS00017001.
The bottom line is, none of the Homak cabinets is made to stand up to a battering ram. Instead, they are simply quality security products that are designed to keep out children and unmotivated burglars. If you want extra security for jewelry and other valuables, then consider the safe. Hopefully these Homak gun safe reviews have given you an idea of what you can expect before buying.
