Canon Powershot TX1Canon has a new Powershot on the way and it looks like it’ll be a good one. The Canon Powershot TX1 is sleek and loaded with features that digital cameras twice its size wish they had.

The TX1 follows in line with other digital elphs in that it’s a very compact, high quality digital camera. The Canon Powershot TX1 is a 7.1 megapixel, all-in-one digital camera that can fit into a space the size of a deck of cards.

The neatest thing about the Canon Powershot TX1 is a hybrid, meaning it will take fantastic still shots as well as shoot video. No more lugging around a digital camera and a digital camcorder.

And we all know what that means, you plug one camera in instead of two!

Jeff Keller, Founding Editor of DCRP Review said about the video capabilities of the Canon Powershot TX1….One of the big features on the TX1 is its movie mode, and part of the Canon software package is ready for the job. The MovieEdit task lets you edit videos, complete with transitions, effects, text overlays, and much more. Perhaps the most important feature is the ability to downsize the videos, which makes them easier to share with friends via e-mail or your website.

Sony and Pentax both have had hybrid digital camera’s in the past and neither really hit it off with the U.S. market. It’ll be interesting to see if the Canon Powershot TX1 can make the U.s. market sit up and take notice. I’m betting it can.

The Canon Powershot TX1 will have a starting retail price of $499. That’s a pretty big price for a compact camera, especially since most digital cameras in the range of the Powershot are in the $200 to the $400 range. But don’t forget, the Canon Powershot TX1 is no ordinary digital camera!

I’m predicting this digital camera will do very well with Soccer Mom’s and Tourist. The quality of pictures from it’s 7.1 megapixels will offer more than enough qualit to send pics to the kids and it’ll be S-W-E-E-T having the convenience of a digital camcorder all in the same compact camera!
