If you are considering a pet fountain, there are good reasons to take a look at the ceramic versions that are on the market. There are not a lot of these, but those that are available serve the purposes of making sure your pet gets plenty to drink as well as not being an eyesore in your home. Just because you need to get a pet accessory does not mean it cannot look good and fit in with the rest of your home's decor and appliances.

By far the most popular ceramic pet fountain is the Pioneer 6022 ceramic pet fountain. This is also know as the raindrop pet fountain due to its shape. This fountain is a shiny black and and if your guests did not know it was an accessory for your pets they might very well think it was a piece of decor. this is one very good looking fountain. The Pioneer fountain provides 3 different types of water for your pet to choose from. The first is at the top of the fountain, where the water comes up in a small fountain. The water then moved down and around a ramp and spills into the main bowl of the unit. Some pets love to drink the water from the ramp, others like the fountain part, while still others will drink from the pool at the bottom. Since the water is always circulating, even the water in the bowl portion is moving, and that is the key to why pets like to drink from a fountain. They just naturally like moving water.

The other popular ceramic fountain is made by Sanitary Ceramic. This is a larger, rectangular shaped fountain that is perfect in multiple pet situations. This fountain is made in the USA, and like the Pioneer fountain is very good looking when compared to most other fountains.

Whichever ceramic fountain you choose, it is important to know why ceramic makes a good choice, especially for cats. Cat owners know their pets are susceptible to various allergies, and most of these are caused by exposure to bacteria. This is true of feline acne as well. Most pet fountains are plastic, and plastic is easily scratched by dogs and cats. Those small scratches are the places where bacteria can develop and take hold. The benefit of a material like ceramic is that it is not easily scratched, so is naturally more resistant to these bacteria.

In short, a ceramic pet fountain makes sense from two different angles. First, the health of your pet is at stake, especially if you have a cat. And secondly, you want the fountain to look good in your home while it is serving its main purpose. Take a look at either of these ceramic pet fountains and I think you will agree it serves both of these purposes nicely.
